Kayak Trip #2 Upper Chain O’ Lakes - 4/12/12

On this day, we put in at Knight’s Landing and paddled through Manomin, Pope, Marl, Knight, and Orlando Lakes. This is part of the famous Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes, but these smaller lakes are separated from the larger ones by a shallow creek. Only small craft can navigate these lakes and there is “NO WAKE” here. It’s the perfect spot for kayaking or canoeing.

  1. I am new to kayaking and paddled Dake, Columbia, Long and Miner lakes in the chain last Saturday. I am interested in paddling other lakes in the Chain. When launching from Waupaca County boat launches, do kayaks need to pay the same launch fee as trailered boats? I am not clear on this requirement and want to play by the rules. Thanks

  2. Tom, I checked with the Waupaca County Parks and Recreation Department, and this is what I was told:

"If they’re on a trailer it’s the same. If you carry them on top of a vehicle or in the back of a truck there is no charge. The fee is for launching boats on trailers."

    1. Thanks for following-up!! Maybe we'll pass each other on the Chain sometime. (I have a green Pungo 120).
