I also do it for therapy. It's great exercise, and because I have a back condition (spondylolisthesis), both my doctor and my physical therapist have told me that kayaking is one of the best exercises for me. I can do it while sitting down, taking pressure off the spine, and it strengthens the core muscles which help hold the back in place. (Be sure to check with your physician before starting any new exercise program.)
Getting ready to go out on Lake Emily with the inflatable kayak, July 2011.
I am starting this blog after our 38th trip, so the dates that I post will not be consistent with the dates we took the trips. Also, I don't have a lot of photos because I am reluctant to take my good camera on the water. I did get a few photos from shore or when I knew we'd be paddling calm waters, and I took an old camera with me a few times. It has since died, and we've ordered a waterproof camera which should be here today! Photography is also one of my hobbies, so I'm looking forward to taking some great pix!
